Who are we?
Afrogarm is a new fashion platform aiming bridge the gap between African and Western fashion, that helps to advertise, showcase and empower African fashion and designers worldwide. In essence, Afrogarm is a marketplace for African-inspired fashion brands to sell their products, in a space that is dedicated to promoting African fashion. However, whist Afrogarm is African-inspired, inclusivity is our goal. We want to bring African fashion to every age, gender, body-type and ethnicity.
At Afrogarm, we have individually selected shops from around the world to launch our website at the end of November 2019, in time for the Christmas period. With a controlled number of brands, all carefully selected and vetted, we avoid the customer feeling overwhelmed while still providing the variety they would expect from an online store.

What makes us different?
There are two main things separating us from other platforms currently available:

Afrogarm came into existence when a small group of people, with a shared love of both African and Western fashion, became frustrated in trying to find somewhere to purchase our clothes that combined elements from across the continents. Going on multiple sites to
search for items that expressed our personal fashion styles became time consuming and tiring, and so Afrogarm was born.
Our second vision for Afrogarm was to create a new customer experience when shopping for African-inspired clothing. We have created a platform that is visually appealing and easy to navigate so that shopping with us is something our customers look forward to, rather than a chore. One aspect of this is creating the images of your products internally and displaying them on our platform in a way that is constant with our theme, while still allowing the individuality of each piece to shine.
Quality control is important to us – our customers need to be able to trust the products they are getting. To guarantee this, we have invited a limited number of carefully selected brands to join us at Afrogarm for our launch.
As previously mentioned, image quality and presentation are a vital part of Afrogarm’s brand. We will be doing an initial shoot for every store free of charge. This will include a maximum of 40 items (see our terms and conditions for more detail on this). Subsequent shoots will come with a cost. Alternatively, you can arrange your own shoot so long as our guide is followed.
Our photoshoots are subject to approval before being displayed on Afrogarm’s website.
What does this cost?
We charge no upfront cost to use Afrogarm’s platform – we only want to make profit when you do. Instead we charge a 12% commission from sellers on each item sold. For sellers that advertises us on their social platforms, we reduce the commission to 10%.
We have implemented several structures to ensure a positive experience for our sellers. Sellers are able manage their own product in terms of costing and updating the items displayed. There will be access to information such as stock updates, tracking items that have been sold and progress updates.
From launch, we will have a live chat team (9:00am – 7:00pm) to assist customers and sellers.
